After a smooth landing at Denver International Airport, a Delta passenger noticed something unusual on the aircraft she had just disembarked from—a large dent on the nose of the plane. Lynn Bennett, who had traveled on Delta Flight 1648 from Detroit to Denver, spotted the dent from the terminal window and was surprised by the discovery. “It was kind of a shock,” Bennett said, explaining that the dent wasn’t present when they took off from Detroit just a few hours earlier.

Bennett shared a photo of the dented nose on social media, sparking curiosity about what might have caused it. “There was slight turbulence, but nothing out of the ordinary,” she added. According to a Delta spokesperson, the crew detected a mechanical issue in the nose of the aircraft, but the flight landed safely and taxied to the gate without incident. The plane was later inspected and repaired overnight, with a replacement Airbus A319 covering the outbound flight from Denver to Salt Lake City, which was delayed by over four hours.

Delta expressed regret for the delay, but Bennett is still left wondering about the mystery of the dent. “What happened? Why isn’t Delta commenting beyond ‘mechanical issues’? What caused it?” she pondered, leaving her with unanswered questions about the unusual sight on her flight.
