One Colorado City Tops the Charts for Divorce, While Another Boasts Happiest Couples

Divorce has become increasingly common across the country, including right here in Colorado. Over time, what was once considered taboo is now more accepted as people realize that sometimes it’s best to walk away from a relationship that just isn’t working. Personally, I saw this with my own parents, who divorced when I was a child. Looking back, I’m grateful they chose to separate because they simply weren’t meant to be together. While I admire couples who can work through their differences, sometimes parting ways is the healthiest option.

Colorado’s Divorce Capital

Pueblo has earned the title of not just the divorce capital of Colorado, but one of the top cities in the nation for divorce rates. According to recent data, a staggering 14.7% of Pueblo residents are divorced, placing the city high on the national leaderboard for splits.

Fort Collins: A City That Stays Together

On the flip side, Fort Collins shines as a city where couples tend to stick it out. According to a ranking by Joslyn Law Firm, based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Fort Collins boasts one of the lowest separation rates in the nation, at just 0.8%. Separation refers to couples who break up for extended periods but haven’t yet filed for divorce. This suggests that couples in Fort Collins either reconcile or make their divorces quick and clean. With no mention in the top 25 cities for divorce, Fort Collins stands out as a place where relationships endure.

While Pueblo may lead in separations, Fort Collins proves that some cities are still filled with couples who can weather the storms of marriage.
