Newly released video shows the moments leading up to a collision between an RTD A Line train and a semi-truck earlier this week, which left two people injured. The crash happened as the eastbound A Line was heading to Denver International Airport with 55 passengers on board.
The footage, obtained from RTD, shows the semi stopped before the crossing until about 40 seconds before impact. The driver then began moving forward before the train crossing signal activated, striking the top of the truck. After stopping and briefly trying to reverse, the truck proceeded across two sets of tracks—one for freight and one for the A Line. Just before the trailer cleared the A Line tracks, the train struck it, also hitting another crossing signal.
The train’s operator sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, while another passenger was treated at the scene. Aurora Police say the investigation remains ongoing, with more surveillance footage under review. No citations have been issued.
