Ways to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month in Colorado

From September 15 – October 15, the world celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. Colorado has a rich and diverse Hispanic heritage, dating back to the early 17th century. There’s plenty to enjoy form now until October 15. To help get you started on the journey to exploring and celebrating National Hispanic Heritage month, here are three festivals, exhibits and cooking competitions that should be on your radar.

 

Suave Fest 2023  (Sept. 30, 2023)
At Steam on the Platte, 1401 Zuni St, Denver Co 80204 this  bi-annual event that celebrates Latino culture through music, dance, food and art. Tickets are $35-$75, according to the events website, here’s what you can expect from the event:

  • 18 Latinx-Owned Breweries

  • 10 Collaborating Breweries

  • 40+ Beer Varieties

  • 50+ Artists & Artisans

  • 6 Hours of Live Entertainment

  • Latin American & Caribbean Food Vendors

  • Wines, Spirits & Non-Alcoholic Choices


Justin Favela: Vistas in Color 
(thru Oct. 1, 2023)
Justin Favela’s large-scale piñata-paper installations is a vibrant and immersive experience. “Vibrant, immersive and subtly humorous, Vistas in Color honors the sweeping desert landscapes of the U.S. and Mexico and the role that they’ve played in Latinx identity. Made of tissue paper similar to that used for piñatas, Favela’s floor-to-ceiling mural pays tribute to the places and landscapes that make us who we are,” says the website.

Hispanic Top Chef 2023  (Oct. 12-14, 2023)

At the CSU Spur, 4777 National Western Drive Denver, CO 80216, the four hour event costs $35. This culinary showdown feature eight competitors who will chef-it-up in a three-day culinary showdown.
