Many of us use dating apps to meet other singles in the Denver metro area. But how safe are they really? Women are always putting their lives in danger when they meet a stranger for a date, but men can be in danger too.

A 22 year-old woman is under arrest in Colorado Springs after she met a man on Tinder, a popular hook-up app, tied him up and tortured him. The woman held him inside of her Colorado Springs home for hours while she stabbed, choked and threatened to kill him.

The suspect, Lauren Dooley, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 28, after officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 2500 block of East Cache La Poudre Street.

Around 5:45 p.m. that day, officers began investigating an unknown emergency call. On that call, the voices of a man and woman can be heard. The operator believed they heard the 21-year-old victim say that he was bleeding all over the bed, and telling someone that they had cut him and were trying to kill him.

When police arrived, neighbors told officers that a naked male was bleeding and in need of help. Officers then found the victim who was naked and appeared to be bleeding from a cut on his left arm.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim was backing away from Dooley, “who appeared to have blood smeared on her arms and hands.” The victim said that Dooley “tied him up and cut him.” Dooley was then arrested and after being read her Miranda Rights refused to speak with officers.

The victim explained that he had met the suspect on Tinder and agreed to go over to her apartment. The two then engaged in sexual contact before the female suspect used duct tape to bind him and attack him with a knife.

At this point the victim realized he was in real danger and rescinded his consent, asking to be let go.

Dooley forced the victim onto her bed where she climbed atop of him, as she began choking and cutting him. Then the suspect became upset that the victim was dirtying her bed and forced him into the bathtub before deciding to order some food delivery. Ya know, a nice break from torture to eat.

After eating, apparently tired from this Tinder date gone wrong, the suspect got into bed with the victim and pulled a blanket over him. The victim noticed the knife under the blanket near his feet, and when his captor fell asleep he used the knife to cut himself free. As the victim was getting his keys and phone, he bumped into a table and woke Dooley up. He then ran to the parking lot for help.

When officers searched the apartment, they found the knife near the bed, along with several blood soaked rags and a bloody bathtub.

According to arrest papers, Dooley is now facing several felony charges including; kidnapping, two counts of assault, menacing and false imprisonment.

Beware men and women, there are some creepy people on those online dating apps. You have got to stay safe. I tell my best friend this all the time. Dating can be a very dangerous game in Denver. Or anywhere for that matter.
