Planning the perfect date night typically goes as far as watching the latest movie and going to dinner or drinks after. If you want to switch things up, why not go for something out of the box?

There’s plenty to do in Denver and its surrounding cities, from hiking to art museums and local music. However, sometimes finding the right event can be a chore, but it doesn’t have to be.

Here are five out-of-the-box ideas that are perfect for either a day or night date:

Mystery Picnic

AmazingCo. collaborates with various local businesses around town to create a fantastic experience. There are two locations, in Boulder and on Capitol Hill.

“Start by solving personally curated clues and riddles that’ll take you on a journey to collect your special gourmet picnic food bit by bit. Each clue you solve will lead you closer to your next picnic food pickup and even closer to your final stunning picnic location,” says the event page.

For two adults, it’ll cost $110, which includes the food. For additions, you can add a bottle of wine and a picnic set up.

Denver Food Tour

Want to get to know your date’s taste buds? The Denver Food Tour comes with a local guide to steer you toward local eateries. Open your pallet and explore the city one bite at a time.

“Discover award-winning eateries, authentic Neapolitan pizza, freshly baked empanadas from a family-owned shop, and more. In between bites, learn about Denver’s Wild West history and pass landmarks like the baseball field and iconic Union Station,” says the events page.

While tasty, this experience is $75 per person.

FeverUp is an app that shows you unique events around town, and not just in Denver. Whether you’re planning a trip to Europe or Florida, FeverUp can help.

Wacky Let’s Roam Denver Scavenger Hunt at the Zoo

“Walk to all the best landmarks and hidden gems, answering trivia questions and solving challenges. On this Scavenger Hunt adventure through the Zoo, you’ll roar with the lions, laugh with the kookaburras, and fly south with the geese,” says the event page.

Coming in at $12.50 per person and will last around two hours. The scavenger hunt is the perfect date to test your trivia skills while being competitive.

Downtown Denver Haunted Walking Tour

If you’re more into the spooky side and don’t want to wait for Halloween, this walking tour is perfect for satisfying your scary needs while learning a thing or two about Denver’s haunted history.

“Hear all about the ghosts of Union Station, Daniels & Fisher Tower, and the Oxford Hotel,” says the event page.

Tickets cost $27 per person and start at the Celtic on Market; expect to walk around for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Candlelight Music

The Candlelight shows offer live music from various genres played via orchestra. While string instruments usually mean classical, that’s not the case for these dynamic shows.

Whether you’re a sucker for Adele, Selena, Mozart, Classic Rock, or even Skrillex, there’s a Candlelight just for you. Check the homepage for more details.
