Cutting the ribbon on Monday morning were dignitaries like Rep. Diana DeGette, Gov. Jared Polis, and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, alongside airport CEO Phil Washington and TSA representatives. This exciting addition boasts 17 new lanes, whizzing passengers through security at an impressive rate of 240 per hour, according to Mayor Johnston.
“This new checkpoint will greatly enhance security operations and will make our process more efficient for passengers,” Washington said.
But the real magic lies in the details:
- Say goodbye to ID fumbling! Travelers with boarding passes can simply opt for a facial recognition scan, streamlining the process.
- Colorado residents rejoice! Show your digital ID card stored on your phone for a quick and convenient verification.
- No more bag-digging! The new TSA bins automatically replenish, eliminating the need to remove your belongings.
Efficiency is key for DIA, serving 77 million passengers annually and currently ranking as the third busiest airport globally. “This new checkpoint represents a significant step towards enhanced security and a smoother travel experience for everyone,” said CEO Phil Washington.
Governor Polis echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the safety benefits alongside the speed boost. “Shorter lines at DIA security mean not only faster travel but also a safer environment overall,” he stated.
