Here’s what to know about the new Target opening near DIA

News broke this week that retail giant Target is eyeing a prime location near Denver International Airport (DIA), bringing much-needed shopping options to the area.

Currently, the closest Target to DIA is in Northfield, a significant distance for last-minute essentials or forgotten toiletries. The proposed store, however, would sit right at the northwest corner of Tower Road and 56th Avenue, just minutes from the airport entrance.

This isn’t your average Target either. Plans submitted to the city indicate a “larger-format” store clocking in at a spacious 150,000 square feet. That’s 25,000 square feet more than most standard Target locations, offering even more variety and amenities. Imagine grabbing travel essentials, groceries, souvenirs, or even a new outfit, all without the airport’s premium prices.

While plans are still in the early stages and no official opening date has been announced, the news has already generated excitement. Travelers tired of overpriced airport shops and Denver residents seeking convenient options near the airport are welcoming the news with open arms.

Here are some additional details about the proposed store:

  • Location: Northwest corner of Tower Road and 56th Avenue, near DIA.
  • Size: 150,000 square feet (larger format)
  • Opening date: Not yet announced, but likely still far off.
  • Benefits: Convenient location for travelers and residents, wider product selection, potentially lower prices than airport shops.

While waiting for the official opening, keep an eye out for further updates. This new Target promises to be a game-changer for DIA accessibility and Denver’s retail landscape. So, the next time you’re flying out of DIA or just passing through, you might soon have a new pit stop to add to your itinerary!
