It’s so hard to say goodbye …. unless you’re a quarterback for the Broncos.

“On behalf of the Broncos, we thank Russell for his contributions and dedication to our team and community while wishing him the best as he continues his career,” general manager George Paton and coach Sean Payton said in a joint statement. “As we move forward, we are focused on building the strongest team possible for the 2024 season and beyond. We are excited to improve this offseason and will have the flexibility to get better through the draft and free agency.”

“I’ve got more fire than ever, honestly, especially over the past two years of what I’ve gone through,” Wilson said on the “I Am Athlete” podcast on Feb. 25. “Whether it’s in Denver or somewhere else, I hope it’s in Denver, I hope I get to finish there. I committed there, I wanted to be there. I want to be there.

Russell Wilson confirmed the news via social media.
