Voter turnout for the 2024 Colorado election may face challenges due to a lengthy ballot and the ongoing national Adderall shortage. In the June primaries, only about 1 million of Colorado’s 3.8 million active voters cast ballots, raising concerns for November.

The national Adderall shortage is affecting many residents who rely on this medication for ADHD. With increased diagnoses, production delays, and supply chain issues, some Coloradans have gone months without their prescriptions. This shortage could lead to “ballot fatigue” as voters face a packed ballot that includes presidential and congressional races, numerous propositions that range from slaughterhouses to cougar hunting, and 116 statewide judge retentions.

Feeling overwhelmed? Luckily you don’t have to vote on every measure. Voters can choose to “undervote,” which means completing a partial ballot and your vote still counts!

For those committed to voting but struggling to focus due to a lack of mediaiton, consider calling in a favor with a relative who’s medicine cabinet might be stocked. Just remember: prioritize safety and legality when seeking any medication. Voters could also consult a “street pharmacist” located near the 16th Street Mall for emergency consultation.

Let’s ensure every voice is heard this election!
