Former Bronco ‘Big Al’ Among iHeartMedia Layoffs in Denver

Two popular Denver radio hosts are no longer part of the KOA Sports lineup, according to a social media update from the impacted hosts on Monday.

Alfred “Big Al” Williams announced his departure from iHeartMedia, expressing gratitude to his colleagues and listeners. Williams, a host on KOA 850 AM and 94.1 FM since February 2019, shared his appreciation for the fans who tuned in over the years. “To my loyal listeners on 94.1 and 850 AM, thank you for joining me for every broadcast, sharing in my love of the game,” he wrote on X. “This isn’t goodbye—I’ll be back soon, stronger and ready to deliver the sports insights you’ve come to expect. Thank you for being an essential part of my journey. I look forward to reconnecting with you soon,” he concluded.

Williams, 55, a former linebacker and defensive end, played for the Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers, and the Denver Broncos. He was part of the Broncos’ Super Bowl victories in 1997 and 1998 and had a standout college career at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he recorded 263 tackles and 35 sacks.

Also leaving KOA is Broncos insider Brandon Krisztal, who joined the station in 2015, just before the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 win. He noted his gratitude for mentor Dave Logan’s support, saying, “My time at KOA Colorado has been filled with incredible experiences, and I’m deeply thankful for the privilege of contributing to KOA’s legacy in Denver and the Rocky Mountain region.”

The layoffs were part of a broader restructuring at iHeartMedia, which the company mentioned in its recent second-quarter financial call.
