Driver Pulls Crowbar After I-70 Confrontation Turns Violent in Wheat Ridge
Road rage turned dangerous on Interstate 70 this week after a confrontation between two drivers escalated into a chaotic showdown involving a shattered window and a crowbar.
According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, officers were called Wednesday to a road rage incident on westbound I-70 near West 32nd Avenue. Video from the scene shows traffic coming to a stop as tensions boiled over between two motorists.
Police said the driver of the first vehicle stopped in the middle of the freeway and approached a second vehicle. As he attempted to slam the other driver’s door, the second driver got out and punched through the rear window of the first vehicle, shattering the glass.
The confrontation appeared ready to escalate even further when the first driver moved toward the damaged vehicle. Before that could happen, the second driver walked to his trunk and pulled out a crowbar.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, but the incident serves as a reminder of how quickly road rage can spiral out of control. With temperatures rising and more drivers hitting Colorado roads this summer, police are urging motorists to stay calm and avoid confrontations behind the wheel.
