Police Seek IDs of Teens Who Rode E-Bike Motorcycles Into Arvada Grocery Store

Arvada police are trying to identify two juveniles who rode high-powered e-bike motorcycles into a King Soopers store during the Thanksgiving holiday week, according to a report from FOX31. The incident happened on Sunday, Nov. 23, at the shopping center near West 64th Avenue and McIntyre Parkway, where the teens drove what appear to be E-Pro electric motorcycles — capable of reaching speeds over 50 mph — directly through the store’s entrance.

Store employees told officers the pair caused a disturbance and have been a recurring problem, often riding recklessly through the parking lot and even appearing to intentionally come close to hitting customers. Police said the juveniles have also been seen riding in traffic along West 64th Avenue and Quaker Street, and the department has received reports of damage to a shopping cart and gas pumps.

One of the riders was wearing only a bicycle helmet, which officers noted provides almost no protection at the high speeds those bikes can reach. Police also reminded the public that these e-bike motorcycles must be registered and insured, and operators are required to have a valid driver’s license — requirements the riders are unlikely to meet. Under Colorado law, parents may be held liable for their children’s actions.

Because the suspects are believed to be minors, police are not releasing images of their faces, but they are asking residents to help identify the teens based on their bikes and clothing. Tips can be sent to Officer Pirillo at Jpirillo@arvada.org.
