For Coloradans looking for a way to show their support, there is now a place to gather. A police vehicle outside the Lakewood Police Department at 445 S. Allison Parkway has become a public memorial for the agent killed in the line of duty Thursday evening, according to 9NEWS.
Across Colorado, fellow first responders have shared condolences and offers of help. As reported by 9NEWS, Aurora Police offered assistance to the department, families and Lakewood community. Arvada Police, speaking from their own experience with losing an officer, emphasized that the fallen agent’s loved ones would have support through the difficult days ahead. Colorado State Patrol and sheriff’s offices across the metro area also expressed solidarity.
Gov. Jared Polis offered condolences to the agent’s family and colleagues while recognizing the injured agents and civilian receiving care. Behind each message is a shared concern for the people grieving, those recovering and the first responders continuing to serve their communities.
Our hearts are with the Lakewood Police Department and everyone affected by this loss. Those wishing to visit the memorial can pay their respects outside department headquarters. For additional reporting and statements from agencies across Colorado, read Alexander Kirk’s full story at 9NEWS.
