Longmont Police Search for Bike-Riding Vandal Who Defaced Speed Cameras
Police in Longmont are trying to track down a suspect caught on camera vandalizing speed enforcement cameras with pink spray paint along Main Street. The cameras, clearly marked with signs warning drivers about photo enforcement, have been a steady source of citations — with the city reporting 2,446 tickets issued between July and December 2025, bringing in more than $73,000.
According to Fox31 Longmont Public Safety says, the suspect rode into the downtown area on a bicycle around 3:15 a.m. Monday. Surveillance images show the individual dressed in all black, wearing a full-face helmet with the visor partially raised, revealing their eyes and part of their face.
Investigators believe the person targeted at least two cameras, covering them in paint. Some residents called the act reckless, pointing out that the cameras are in place to address ongoing speeding concerns in the area. Others noted the damage will ultimately fall on taxpayers, as repairs will need to be funded locally.
