According to Littleton Police, the incident occurred on Sunday night along Big Dry Creek Trail in Progress Park.

Littleton Police Department spokesperson Sheera Poelman stated that “two women were walking, and they were approached and they (the suspects) asked for her purse. The woman said no, and then she was shot in the leg”.

Police were contacted and on-scene shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday evening. Poelman said that there were two suspects away with the woman’s purse.

“We are still looking for both of them. We had police at the park today combing for more evidence,” Poelman said.

The two suspects are believed to be Hispanic teenagers, a male and a female. The male teen has a thin build and is around 5 feet 3 inches with bowl cut. According to the victim, the girl suspect is in her mid-teens.

The daughter of the woman victim who was shot in the leg said that her mother is “OK and recovering well.

Police are asking people out enjoying the park to stay alert and be vigilant. If you wear headphones, take one out so you can hear what is happening around you.
