Monsoon moisture will arrive in Colorado over the weekend, bringing much-needed relief to the state.
According to local meteorologists, the highest chances for rain and thunderstorms occur south of I70, especially in the southern mountains. We can also see light snow in the higher mountain ranges.

Highs for Denver and the Front Range will be in the 70s, providing much welcomed cooler temps to many of us city dwellers. Mountain highs will be cooler in the 50s and 60s. The chance of rain increases as the weekend approaches with Saturday likely seeing the heaviest rain.

Monsoon season is what we have come to know as those afternoon rain and thunderstorms in the summer, especially over the mountains. Some of us quite frankly have been missing it, for it often brings impressive lightning shows and splendid, albeit scary hail that other regions do not see of this size and frequency. Lightning is more likely during monsoon season along with brief heavy rain that could result in flash flooding. So please be prepared. In order to increase your chances of surviving a lightning strike, locate a safe shelter, or an automobile to wait out the storm.
