There’s nothing like sports to bring a city together. Now a group of soccer fans have joined forces to get a professional women’s soccer team in Colorado.

Wanting a women’s soccer team in Colorado isn’t a far fetch idea, seeing how most of the goals scored in the Women’s World Cup against Vietnam on Friday were all thanks to the ladies of Colorado.

Introducing For Denver FC.

If you missed the game, Sophia Smith of Windsor scored two goals, and Lindsey Horan of Golden scored the third and final goal. While at one of many watch parties, fellow soccer lovers ignited the conversation to bring a pro women’s team home.

“I’m the father of two girls, and I started to see the world from their eyes, and there’s not a women’s pro soccer team for them to go and watch and to look up to,” Ben Hubbard said to CBS News.

According to the outlet, the group calls itself “For Denver FC.”

“We are one of the few major metropolitan cities in the United States without any women’s professional sports teams; we are also a region that produces some of the best soccer players in the world. It is the missing puzzle piece on the map right now, so it’s a logical place to bring a team,” he said.

The fan club isn’t just filled with fellow soccer players, lovers, and family members; it also includes State Representative Leslie Herod – who also wants a pro home team.

“We are missing out on revenue when we don’t support women’s sports; we have every single man’s professional sports team here in Denver. It’s time for us to step up our game when it comes to women,” Herod said.
