Colorado Group Rescues 165 Schnauzers From Alleged Puppy Mill
A Colorado animal rescue group is calling it one of the most heartbreaking cases they’ve ever encountered. National Mill Dog Rescue recently rescued 165 schnauzers from an alleged puppy mill operation in southwest Colorado. The dogs, many of them severely matted and in poor condition, were transported to the organization’s facility in Peyton for medical evaluation and grooming.
The Bureau of Animal Protection contacted the rescue for assistance after reportedly uncovering concerning conditions at the property. On Tuesday, 57 of the rescued dogs were flown to Michigan, where they’ll continue recovery and begin the adoption process through “Race for Life Rescue.”
The remaining dogs will stay in Colorado and should be ready for adoption within a few weeks, once cleared by veterinarians and socialized for new homes.
