Colorado has over 50 waterfall hikes just waiting to be explored and shared on social media.

Waterfall hikes provide an amazing escape from work and your troubles by replacing anxiety with the serene beauty of nature. Plus, if you add in the breeze and splashes from the waterfall, it’s as if mother nature is giving you a much needed hug.

If you’re looking for a little road trip within an hour of Denver, check out one of these four waterfall hikes.

Cherry Hills Falls Hike

The waterfall hike at Castlewood Canyon is about a 50-minute drive and a short trail of a quarter mile long. Day Hikes Denver shares the importance of grabbing a brochure and finding the northernmost trail in order to get to the waterfall in 10 minutes.

Maxwell Falls

This trail offers three different hiking trails and is perfect for the entire family. Hiking trails range from 1.6 miles to 4 miles in distance; on average, a hike can take anywhere from 45 minutes to just under 3 hours.

Eldorado Cascades at Walker Ranch

With a round trip of 14 miles, dogs are allowed but no bikes or horses. There are four trails connected with the Eldorado Cascades:

  • Crescent Meadows Trail
  • S. Boulder Creek Trail
  • Columbine Gulch Trail
  • Eldorado Canyon Trail

Boulder Falls

This trail reopened in June 2018 with new features of repaired trails with more durable terrain. This hike is easy and spans 100 yards. Although it’s about 70 feet high, it still provides. waterfall, cliff and Boulder Creek that’s perfect for selfies.

According to MentalHealth.org, “nature can generate many positive emotions, such as calmness, joy, and creativity and can facilitate concentration.”
