Tis the season for snow and the exploration of Colorado!

During the holiday season watching Hallmark and other holiday programming can help us get into the spirit and festivities. While there’s no denying a good movie has the ability to transport you mentally into the ultimate winter wonder land, sometimes we crave for something local.

What if you can experience a Holiday movie in your own state? Here are five towns in Colorado beaming with holiday spirit:

Georgetown, Colorado

“Each December the town of Georgetown transforms for two weekends into a bustling Christmas scene reminiscent of Christmas of long ago,” says the town website. “The Georgetown Christmas Market is held the first and second weekends of December and admission is FREE.”

With plenty of shops, local crafts, snow and Holiday cheer, Georgetown has plenty of sights, eats, and festivities to help get you in the Holiday spirit.

Breckenridge, Colorado

“Breckenridge ups the ante on small town holiday charm with the return of the Lighting of Breckenridge & Race of the Santas.” says its website. “The first weekend of December kicks off a festive holiday scene in the streets of Breckenridge.”

There will be hundreds of Santa look-alikes, more than 13,000 feet and 250,000 LED holiday light displays, food, fun, and Holiday spirit.

There are over 100 bars in Breckenridge, and it’s highly recommended that you reserve your hotel in advance.

Ouray, Colorado

Ouray is known as the “Outdoor Recreation Capitol of Colorado” and has plenty of hiking and outdoor fun during the warmer months. While it’s known best for a place to be during the summer, its not ot be slept on during the winter.

Ouray transforms into a winter-wonderland during the Holidays, being one of the most go-to destinations for winter festivities. Visitouray.com to explore.

Aspen, Colorado

Plan on heading to one of the most sought after Holiday vacation spots for winter? You better plan ahead ASAP. Aspen offers plenty of winter fun from ice skating, sledding, skiing, lights, Holiday festivities and more during this time of year.

“By venturing a few miles up to Snowmass, you’ll be able to celebrate Ullr Nights,” says its website “njoy a bonfire, s’mores, and hot chocolate before or after you try snow tubing, ice skating, and/or snowbiking. You’ll be further entertained by live music and fire dancers, urging you to stay until you feel your adventure is complete.”

Telluride, Colorado

“All through December, snow gloriously cloaks the soaring peaks around our tiny town, lights twinkle on main street and Telluride’s charming historic buildings sport holiday wreaths and colorful decorations,” says its website.

From Noel Night, sleigh rides, lights and the spirit of the Holidays at every turn, Telluride has plenty of skiing and family fun waiting fro you to explore.
