On December 14th, 2022, the biggest Art Theft in recent Boulder history went down. Five Pieces of high end art, valued at over $400,000, were in transit from Los Angeles to New Mexico, with a stopover in Colorado. The transporters stopped at a hotel on South Boulder Road for the night. When they woke up, they found the locks to the truck were cut, and the Five Pieces were missing, along with some tools.
