New Denver Broncos Stadium Site Set to Close by May 15

The long-discussed plan for a new Denver Broncos stadium is moving closer to reality, as the state has officially revealed the purchase price for the proposed site at Burnham Yard—and when the deal is expected to close.

According to the Colorado Transportation Investment Office (CTIO), the Broncos have agreed to pay $45.8 million for the 58.5-acre property in central Denver. The deal is expected to be finalized by May 15.

The agreed price is slightly lower than what the state paid in 2021, when the Colorado Department of Transportation purchased the land from Union Pacific Railroad for $50 million. However, officials say the $45.8 million matches the remaining balance on the state’s loan tied to the property.

The agreement marks a major step forward in what has become one of Denver’s most talked-about development projects. State leaders say the sale not only helps secure the Broncos’ future in Denver, but also opens the door for significant redevelopment in the historically underutilized Burnham Yard area.

Governor Jared Polis praised the agreement, noting it will repay the state while potentially unlocking billions in future investment and revitalization for the site.
