An Aurora Dentist, James Toliver Craig, has been accused of murdering his wife.  Craig, who is 45 years old, was taken into custody by police officers and homicide investigators in Aurora, Colorado on Sunday morning. He has been charged with first-degree murder and was put in jail.

Craig had driven his 43-year-old wife to a nearby hospital on Wednesday evening because she was feeling very sick, with severe headaches and dizziness. Unfortunately, her condition worsened rapidly, and she was admitted to the intensive care unit where she was put on a ventilator. She was declared brain-dead soon after.

The police began to investigate her sudden illness and found out that she had been poisoned. Following this discovery, the doctors decided to take the woman off life support, and the police then obtained a warrant for first-degree murder. Investigators found out that Craig had google searched “undetectable poisons” and “How much arsenic does it take to kill someone” on his work computer.    Prosecutors theorize that he had ordered Arsenic from Amazon, and had been putting it in his wife’s Protein Shake.  It made her ill, but it didn’t actually kill her, so he ordered some Potassium Cyanide from a medical supply company, under the lie that he was performing experimental surgery.  He had it delivered to his work, and people who saw it thought it looked suspicious. Police also stopped a shipment to him of Oleander Leaves, yet another poison.   Division Chief Mark Hildebrand commended the officers and detectives for their hard work.

It looks like the motive would be another woman. A woman had flown in to see Craig a few times.  She is another dentist, but according to the emails they discovered between the two, they were not cleaning each other’s teeth.  He has been practicing dentistry in the Aurora area since 2006. He was working at Summer Brook Dental offices, who has recently shut down their website..  If he was cleaning your teeth, you might want to find a new dentist. The Craig Family leaves behind six children.  James will be in court on Thursday for Preliminary Hearings.

The investigation into this case is still ongoing, and the Aurora Police Department has urged anyone with any more information to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
