Two men were found stabbed to death just hours apart and only blocks away from each other in Aurora, sparking an active investigation into whether the two killings are connected.
The first call came in around 1:45 a.m. Sunday when Aurora police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Moline Street for reports of an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk. When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from apparent stab wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just under five hours later, at approximately 6:30 a.m., police responded to a second call—this time to a bus stop on Peoria Street, just south of East Colfax Avenue. Another man was found unresponsive and also suffering from stab wounds. He, too, was declared dead at the scene.
Given the proximity in both time and location, Aurora police say investigators are urgently working to determine whether the two homicides are connected. “It is certainly concerning,” a police spokesperson noted, adding that the department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit is taking the lead on the case.
No arrests have been made, and authorities have yet to release any suspect information. Aurora police are urging anyone with tips or information to come forward as they continue to piece together what happened.
