Credit Card Skimmers Found at Flying J in Aurora—Police Urge Customers to Check Statements
Customers who recently fueled up at the Flying J Pilot Travel Center in Aurora are being warned to check their bank accounts after credit card skimmers were discovered on several gas pumps. The Aurora Police Department confirmed that between May 25 and May 31, an unknown suspect placed skimming devices on four pumps, specifically targeting diesel pumps 22 and 24 on the semi-truck side of the station, located at 16751 E 32nd Ave, just off I-70.
Skimmers are devices designed to mimic legitimate card readers, allowing criminals to steal card information once a customer swipes their card. These devices are often used at ATMs and gas stations and can transmit or store data for later use.
Aurora Police said the skimmers have since been removed but were stolen from the property before they could be turned over to investigators, complicating the case. The department recommends that anyone who used the affected pumps during that time cancel their cards immediately and notify their bank and law enforcement.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). Customers with specific questions related to the incident can reach out to Detective Steve Cox at Aurora Police District 2 by calling 303-739-6060.
