Broncos Consider All Options for Future Stadium, Including Potential Move to Lone Tree

The Denver Broncos are exploring all possibilities for their future stadium, including the potential for relocation to the city of Lone Tree, south of Denver. This comes just months after the team broke ground on a new $175 million training facility in Englewood. During the Broncos’ end-of-season press conference on Wednesday, co-owner and CEO Greg Penner addressed questions about the future of Empower Field at Mile High, which opened in 2001.

Penner confirmed that while discussions are ongoing, no decisions have been made yet. “We haven’t ruled out anything at this point,” he said when asked about either renovating the current stadium or potentially building a new one. Penner emphasized that the team is looking at various options, including the possibility of moving the stadium to Lone Tree.

“We are continuing to do our due diligence,” Penner explained. “It’s a complex question and decision of what we decide to do. We haven’t ruled out anything at this point. We are still looking at options on the current site, around Denver, and we’ve visited other places like Lone Tree.”

Sean Meaghan, a Lone Tree resident, shared his support for the idea of a new stadium in the area. “I would love to have a stadium,” he said, “just as long as it stays east of the interstate.” The end of Empower Field’s lease is set for 2030, which means that while discussions are still in the early stages, any concrete plans are still a few years away.

While the future of the stadium remains uncertain, progress continues on the Broncos’ new training facility, which is expected to be completed in phases. Penner stated that construction on the facility is about 10 to 15 percent complete, and the design is nearly 90 percent finished. “Things are progressing as we’ve planned,” he said, with the goal of minimizing disruptions to the team’s training camps.

Despite the excitement surrounding the new facility, the future of the stadium and where it will be located remains a key discussion for the Broncos as they plan for the years ahead.
