Brooke Shields Calls Out South Park Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone Over Casa Bonita Union Dispute
Actress Brooke Shields is speaking out against South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, criticizing their handling of a union dispute at Casa Bonita, the iconic Colorado restaurant the pair purchased in 2021.
In her role as president of the Actors’ Equity Association, Shields posted an Instagram video addressing Parker and Stone directly, accusing Casa Bonita’s management of “playing fast and loose” with contract negotiations. Performers at the restaurant, who voted to unionize last year, are seeking fair wages, safety measures, and benefits.
“They’re being paid less than their coworkers who serve the food,” Shields said, noting that many make around $21 an hour, despite Denver’s estimated $30-an-hour living wage. She urged Parker and Stone to resolve the dispute, adding, “Without the performers who bring Casa Bonita to life, it’s just a big pink restaurant.”
Casa Bonita, which underwent a $40 million renovation after Parker and Stone bought it for $3.1 million, has yet to publicly respond to the union’s claims.
