Clint is appointed a Special Assistant to General Manager Bill Schmidt

On December 9, 2021, news about modifications in the management of Colorado Rockies reached the newsrooms. Colorado Rockies appointed Clint Hurdle to serve as a Special Assistant to General Manager Bill Schmidt. Hurdle was given the responsibility of assisting in player development and the First-Year Player Draft. Senior Vice President and General Manager Bill Schmidt was very excited to welcome back Clint Hurdle to the Rockies Organization. Bill Schmidt continued to appreciate the work of Hurdle in the past years. Bill Schmidt expressed his confidence in a prosperous future with Hurdle because he trusted his knowledge and skills.

On the other hand, Hurdle was thrilled by the call to return to the organization he loved serving. Hurdle expressed his warm interest in working with Bill Schmidt and other staff members for the success of the Rockies Organization.

Hurdle is 64 years old as of this year and will start working with the Rockies from 1 January 2021. Hurdle will continue living in Florida to be close to his family. But he will be traveling to Denver and the sites of the Rockies minor league teams.

Clinton Hurdle’s Early Life

Clinton Merrick Hurdle, nicknamed Clint, was born on July 30 1957, at Big Rapids, Mecosta County, Michigan, U.S.A. Clint Hurdle went to Merritt Island High School, where he excelled academically and in playing baseball.

Clint Hurdle committed his whole life to baseball. Clint Hurdle’s profession stretches from being a first-round pick in the MLB Draft to heading the World Series Playoffs. Hurdles played baseball excellently, so young and old baseball fans praised him. Hurdle grew in a Christian home, and he could watch the rocket launch from his backyard and play baseball.

Hurdle joined the MLB at 18 years and played in the major league for ten years. Hurdle retired from playing and joined the management team. Hurdle loved reminding “everybody to be where their feet are in life”, and the world acknowledges his remarkable role in the history of baseball.

Clint Hurdle’s Remarkable Role in Sports

Clint Hurdle is the longest-serving manager in franchise history. Clint Hurdle worked as Rockie’s manager for eight seasons from 2002 to 2009. Hurdle received 534 wins, which is uncommon in franchise history. Clint Hurdle is the only franchise manager that led the club to a World Series in 2007. Hurdle worked as the club’s hitting coach from 1997-2002 before becoming the manager in 2002. Hurdle also served as a mobile hitting instructor from 1994 to 1996.

Hurdle did not lose his passion for serving humanity after leaving the Rockies. The Pittsburgh Pirates club absorbed Hurdle, and he served from 2011 to 2019. Hurdle’s excellent performance earned him 735 awards, and he was named the NL Manager of the Year 2013. Hurdle won 1,269 wins while serving as a manager; thus, he is recognized in Major League history.

The Beginning of Clint Hurdle’s Career

Clint Hurdle pursued his career as a player before serving as a coach and later as a manager. Hurdle played with the Kansas City Royals between 1977 and 1981. Hurdle also played with the Cincinnati Reds in 1982, St. Louis Cardinals in 1986, and New York Mets between 1983 and 1987.

Hurdle’s years of playing baseball gave him enough experience, knowledge, and skills to coach and manage. Hurdle, therefore, began his coaching and managerial profession in 1988.
