Skating first in the pairs free skate, Kam and O’Shea earned 135.36 points with a program set to “Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears. Their performance helped the U.S. stay ahead in the standings during a tightly contested night that saw strong challenges from Japan and Canada.
For O’Shea, 34, the performance marked a long-awaited Olympic moment after serving as an alternate in 2018. He said the pair entered the rink focused and energized, determined to deliver when the team needed it most.
Later in the event, the women’s free skate added more drama. Amber Glenn, skating in place of world champion Alysa Liu, battled through mistakes on her opening triple axel and a combination jump, finishing third in the segment with 138.62 points. Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto won the free skate, briefly tightening the overall standings and increasing the pressure on the American team.
Despite the ups and downs across events, the U.S. team held on to secure gold, with Kam and O’Shea’s standout performance playing a key role. Their skate not only boosted the team’s score but also marked a career milestone for the Colorado Springs duo on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
