Colorado Springs Hit with 144 Noise Complaints After Ford Amphitheater’s Opening Weekend

The grand opening of the Ford Amphitheater in Colorado Springs was met with enthusiasm, but it also sparked nearly 150 noise complaints from nearby residents.

City officials reported receiving 144 noise complaints following the amphitheater’s debut weekend, which featured a performance by OneRepublic. The venue operates under a noise hardship permit, allowing it to exceed city noise limits, but only within specific guidelines. Concerts must conclude by 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and by 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

Venu, the company that owns the Ford Amphitheater, addressed concerns about the noise levels during the opening weekend.

“After monitoring sound all weekend, we were 100% in line with our commitments made in the PUD [Planned Unit Development] with the City of Colorado Springs. All our mitigation tactics are operating and working properly. We will report this information to the City as they have requested, and we committed to in our PUD,” stated a Venu spokesperson.

Now, it’s up to the city of Colorado Springs to determine whether the venue adhered to the noise limits set in the agreement.
