With the official launch of Denver’s e-bike rebate program just a few days away, Denver’s FattE Bikes is already getting calls and customers coming in to ask about the rebates and FattE Bikes’ built in Denver e-bikes.

“We have been working with the City of Denver for several months on this, so it’s no surprise,” said FattE Bikes co-owner Kenny Fisher. “We are excited to see so many people respond so quickly.”

The increase in business has already prompted the Denver e-bike manufacturer to hire more staff. “We just hired another bike mechanic,” said FattE Bikes co-owner Victoria Brunner. “We are looking to hire another shop assistant, as well as additional front-end staff.” While most e-bikes are imported from overseas factories, FattE Bikes builds electric bikes in Denver. The company uses local vendors for certain parts and accessories.

Many customers coming in are discussing selling their cars and using electric bikes as their primary means of transportation in the City. “Most of my driving is just a few miles up to the grocery store, “ said Denver resident Matt W. “I ride a bike, but the electric bike will make running errands and the other trips I would normally do in my car a lot more fun and more economical.”

Denver’s e-bike rebates include $400 off a qualifying e-bike, plus another $500 towards an electric cargo bike. Income-qualifying residents can get rebates of $1200 and $1700.

Denver residents can test ride e-bikes at the FattE Bike showroom at 2596 W Barberry Pl.
