Family Discovers Stolen Truck Used in Golf Cart Heist from News Report

The Torres family in Denver was shocked to learn that their stolen truck had been used in a bizarre crime—a golf cart theft—just six miles from their home. They made the discovery while watching a FOX31 news report on Sunday night.

The family’s white truck was stolen early on the morning of Nov. 15. “Our dad had just come home late Thursday night and was up by 4 a.m. to head to work,” said Stephanie Torres. “In that little window of time, it was gone.” The theft was devastating, as the truck contained essential work items for their father, including tools, snow gear, and other equipment.

The loss of the truck has disrupted their daily lives, as it was not only their father’s work vehicle but also vital for the family’s transportation needs, especially during the snowy season. “We have one other car, but now we have to juggle who’s taking my dad to work and how we manage,” Stephanie explained.

Days later, a family friend, Vincent Vigil, recognized the truck in a news segment about a stolen golf cart. Vigil saw footage of a suspect towing the red golf cart away using a truck that matched the description of the Torres family’s vehicle. “We saw it, and we said, ‘That’s the truck,’” Vigil recalled.

The discovery left the family frustrated and heartbroken. Despite their efforts to spread the word about the missing truck on social media, they only learned of its whereabouts through the news. “It’s unfortunate we found out this way,” Stephanie said. “We’ve been posting about it everywhere, hoping someone would spot it.”

The Torres family continues to work with authorities to recover their truck and hopes to get their lives back on track.
