Twin Moose Calves Spotted in Rocky Mountain National Park Delight Visitors

Nature lovers visiting Rocky Mountain National Park this summer are being treated to a special and rarely seen spectacle: twin moose calves roaming the wild with their mother. Born in late May 2025, the adorable pair has become the talk of the park, charming photographers, hikers, and wildlife watchers lucky enough to spot them.

Though not unheard of, twin moose calves aren’t exactly an everyday sight. Healthy cow moose can give birth to twins about once every three years, particularly when food is abundant and conditions are ideal. In other words, while the phenomenon isn’t exceedingly rare, the chance to see twins in the wild still feels magical for many visitors.

The calves, still small, fuzzy, and wobbly on their feet, stick close to their mother as they explore forest edges, meadows, and streams. Within days of birth, moose calves are able to walk and, astonishingly, swim — a vital skill as they navigate the rugged terrain and waterways of the Rockies.

Local wildlife photographer Aaron Cox, of Aaron’s Wild Images, has documented the young moose family in a series of stunning photos and videos. His work, shared on Facebook and Instagram, captures tender moments and shows just how captivating these creatures are in their natural habitat.

Park rangers are urging the public to enjoy the moose from a safe distance. Approaching wildlife can be dangerous for both animals and humans, and it’s important not to stress or habituate wild animals to human presence. Officials recommend using binoculars or zoom lenses rather than moving in close for a better look.

For many, seeing a moose in the wild is memorable enough. But catching a glimpse of twin calves alongside their mother? That’s the kind of experience visitors will talk about for years.
