Driver Crashes into Aurora Subway, Injures Worker, and Attempts to Flee
A driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing into a Subway restaurant in Aurora on Wednesday, injuring an employee before fleeing the scene.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a building near East Quincy Avenue and South Reservoir Road just before 3:30 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing the driver walk away from the crash site, heading east on Quincy Avenue, apparently trying to reach his home in Arapahoe County.
Officers tracked the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Isiah James Kampeska, to his residence on South Jebel Way, where he was arrested. Kampeska was taken to the hospital for minor injuries before being booked into jail overnight.
He faces multiple charges, including:
- Careless driving
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Driving under the influence of alcohol
- Obstruction of a peace officer or firefighter
- Second-degree assault on a public official
Authorities suspect alcohol intoxication played a role in the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
