Tragedy struck Denver’s streets on New Year’s Day, leaving a family mourning and police searching for a hit-and-run driver.

According to the police, the accident happened around 4:51 am. A 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan collided with an Acura near Parkfield Lake Park, between the Montebello and Gateway-Green Valley Ranch neighborhoods.

The Acura’s passenger lost their life at the scene. Witnesses described the Dodge driver as reckless and speeding before the crash, adding to the devastation. The driver then fled on foot and remains at large over a week later.

Police suspect the Dodge driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, while preliminary tests cleared the Acura driver of any impairment. The Denver Police Department is urgently seeking the public’s help in identifying the culprit.

“Anyone with information, no matter how seemingly small, is encouraged to come forward,” stated a police spokesperson. “We owe it to the victim’s family to bring justice and closure to this heartbreaking tragedy.”

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for anonymous tips leading to the driver’s identification. If you have any information, please call 720-913-7867. Your call could make a crucial difference in finding the person responsible for this senseless act.
