Emergency Vehicles Crash in Separate Incidents in Denver and Littleton
Two emergency vehicles were involved in separate crashes on Memorial Day in Colorado, both while running with lights and sirens to respond to calls. The first incident occurred just before noon when a Denver ambulance collided with another vehicle on Andrews Drive near Peoria Street in the Montbello neighborhood. While the ambulance wasn’t transporting any patients, the other driver was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and the crash also resulted in damage to a nearby fence. The extent of injuries and potential charges remain unclear.
Later that evening, a South Metro Fire Rescue engine was involved in a separate crash at C-470 and Santa Fe Drive near Chatfield State Park. No injuries were reported among the four firefighters on Engine 16 or the occupants of the passenger vehicle. However, the driver of the passenger car was cited by Colorado State Patrol for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. South Metro Fire Rescue confirmed that Engine 16 will be switched to a reserve apparatus following the incident.
