Employees Give List of Demands to Casa Bonita

Over 40 employees have curated a list of demands for Casa Bonita.

“There was a promise of lucrative business which would bring an incredible opportunity monetarily,” said employee Gayle Durr. “We have yet to see any of this lucrative business – despite people nationwide waiting patiently to finally see the inside of this Colorado landmark. We want to see Casa Bonita thrive, and if ownership/management cannot bring that about, then we will.” Says the statement.

The group of employees who call themselves “#WeAreTeamCasa” claimed to have delivered the outline on July 12, reports 9News. The outline reads:

  • To clarify hours of operation: There’s been a series of “soft openings” with no clear pathway to being open seven days a week.
  • Access to health benefits.
  • The creation of a voice in the workplace, as well as transparency and two-way communication with ownership.
  • The ability to consider employment documents for a reasonable timeframe before signing.
  • To reinstate former employees lost through Casa Bonita’s contract-related disputes.

In a petition, the employees of Casa Bonita have over 1,500 signatures of its 2,000 requesting help to get management to “meet them at the table.”

“If we do not hear from you, we will assume you are not interested in an amicable resolution, and we will move forward with appropriate action.

Finally, we remind you that it is against federal law to retaliate against an employee for exercising their right to protected concerted activity; for working towards an improved work environment. This includes discharging, penalizing, disciplining, or in any other manner discriminating against workers for this activity. 29 U.S.C. § 215(a)(3).” Says the request via the coworker.org website.

According to the outlet, the group gave the establishment a week to respond directly but have released this statement:

“Casa Bonita strives to create the best working environment for its employees. This includes implementing the best compensation structure for all employees — not just a few. To the extent some employees have concerns about our policies, we will continue to make ourselves available to discuss their concerns, individually or as a group.”
