Devastating Collision on I-70 Claims Lives of Two Children and One Adult

Three lives were lost — including two children — in a heartbreaking crash along I-70 near Limon on Wednesday afternoon. According to the Colorado State Patrol, the fatal collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. at mile marker 348 when a Subaru Forester rear-ended a semi-truck pulling a trailer in the eastbound lanes.

There were four people inside the Subaru at the time of the crash. Tragically, three of them — including both children — were pronounced dead at the scene. The adult driver, who survived the impact, was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. His current condition has not been released. Officials initially reported four fatalities but later revised the number to three.

The crash left the highway strewn with debris, prompting authorities to shut down I-70 eastbound at Exit 316 (US 36/Byers) for several hours while emergency crews responded and began their investigation. All lanes have since reopened.

State troopers are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community and left loved ones grieving the devastating loss of two young lives and their adult family member.
