Firefighters Rescue Four Cats from Jefferson County Garage Fire

Firefighters rushed to a garage fire in unincorporated Jefferson County on Monday morning, rescuing four cats and ensuring all residents made it out safely.

The fire was reported just before 9:45 a.m. in the 6800 block of South Allison Way, near West Coal Mine Avenue and South Wadsworth Boulevard. Crews quickly contained the blaze, confirming it had not spread from the garage into the home.

Two cats were rescued within the first half hour, each given oxygen before being returned to the homeowner. Shortly after 11 a.m., firefighters located two more cats, bringing relief to the family.

While the fire’s cause remains under investigation, crews ventilated smoke from the garage and secured the scene. Thanks to the swift response from South Metro Fire Rescue, both the family and their pets were safe.
