Five Points Jazz Festival on Saturday, June 8th in Five Points Historic District, Denver

Get Ready for the 2024 Five Points Jazz Festival!

Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood, once known as the “Harlem of the West,” is set to come alive with the sounds of jazz once again at the 2024 Five Points Jazz Festival. This year’s event promises a day filled with music, culture, and community, celebrating over two decades of bringing jazz to the heart of Denver.

Event Details

Date: Saturday, June 8, 2024
Time: Noon to 8 p.m.
Location: Welton Street, from 29th to 25th streets, with stages set up at 25th, 27th, and 29th streets.

What to Expect

The festival will kick off with a parade featuring the Otone Brass Band marching down Welton Street at noon. This free, family-friendly event will feature 20 bands playing across four outdoor stages and several indoor venues, offering a diverse lineup that includes Latin jazz, bop, swing, funk, and blues​ (Arts and Venues Denver)​​ (Arts and Venues Denver)​.

Performance Highlights:

  • Denver Arts & Venues Stage: Otone Brass Band, Charles Blenzig & Simple Math, Linda Theus-Lee’s “Vocal Musical Journey,” Brian Claxton Quartet, and Hugh Ragin and the Messengers of Peace.
  • White Claw Hard Seltzer Stage: Colorado Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Creative Love Happening, Danette & the Good Guys, Purnell Steen and the Five Points Ambassadors, and Buckner Funken Jazz.
  • United Airlines Stage: The Renwick Brothers, Harry Drabkin Quartet, Clare Church Quartet, Electric Giz, and Tenia Nelson Trio (TNT!).
  • George Morrison Jazz Heritage Stage: Bill Kopper Quintet, Ritmo Jazz Latino, Donna Scott Quintet, Jonathan Powell Latin Jazz Septet, and Jack Hadley Band​ (KUVO)​​ (DenverVacations)​.

Special Honorees

This year’s festival will also honor significant contributors to the jazz community, including Rosalind “Bee” Harris and Ken Walker, with presentations on the Denver Arts & Venues Stage and Keith Oxman on the White Claw Hard Seltzer Stage​ (Arts and Venues Denver)​.

Volunteer Opportunities

Denver Arts & Venues is seeking volunteers to help make this event a success. Volunteer shifts range from 3-5 hours, and all volunteers receive a festival T-shirt, food, and non-alcoholic beverages during their shifts. Interested individuals can sign up online to join in the fun and help bring this vibrant festival to life​ (Arts and Venues Denver)​.
