Fires Spark Across Denver Metro, Fireworks Suspected in Several Blazes

It was a busy Fourth of July weekend for fire crews across the Denver metro, with multiple fires breaking out Friday evening—many believed to have been started by fireworks. Arvada Fire Rescue reported responding to several vegetation fires within just ten minutes, some of which were directly linked to firework activity. Fortunately, all were quickly extinguished.

Denver firefighters also had their hands full. Around 10:15 p.m., they tackled a house fire near Titan Court and Titan Way, which had flames visible through the roof. Crews brought it under control within minutes. Not long after, another blaze ignited in an apartment building near 29th and Zenobia. Firefighters attacked the flames from both inside and above using an aerial platform. That fire, too, was brought under control with no injuries reported.

Earlier in the evening, Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a garage fire that spread to a home and a neighboring property on Lewiston Street. The Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced family. The cause of that fire is still under investigation.

The string of incidents serves as a sharp reminder of how quickly celebrations can turn dangerous when fireworks are involved—especially during dry summer months.
