Denver is known for its bike-friendly streets and active community, making it the perfect place for e-bike enthusiasts to get around town in style. And thanks to the city’s e-bike rebate program, residents can now get a $300 discount off the cost of a new e-bike.

The e-bike rebate program was launched in 2022 and has been immensely popular with Denver residents. The city’s Climate Protection Fund funds the program, which is paid for by a 0.25% sales tax approved by voters in 2019. The fund pays for local climate action initiatives and is allocated toward providing rebates for e-bike purchases.

Every other month, a limited number of e-bike rebate vouchers are released, and residents can apply for them through an online portal. The rebates offer an upfront discount on the sales price of e-bikes at participating bike shops. To be eligible for the rebate, residents must register with proof of residency and receive an emailed verification code.

Standard rebates provide a $300 discount on a new e-bike. However, for cargo versions of e-bikes, residents can receive a $500 discount. This program is not only beneficial to the environment, but it also helps residents save money on transportation costs.

In addition to the standard rebate, Denver offers an income-qualified rebate for residents earning up to 80% of the area’s median income. This rebate provides a more substantial $1,200 discount ($2,000 for a cargo version of an e-bike) on a new e-bike.

The program has been incredibly popular and has seen an overwhelming response from residents. Vouchers have sold out within minutes of becoming available.

E-bikes are a more environmentally friendly mode of transportation, emitting less CO2 than traditional vehicles. They are also a healthier option for riders, providing an opportunity for exercise and fresh air while running errands or commuting to work. E-bikes also help reduce traffic congestion and parking difficulties in the city.

The e-bike rebate program is part of Denver’s larger climate action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable transportation options. The city aims to lower its carbon footprint by 80% by 2050 and aims to have 125 miles of new bikeways by 2023.

If you’re a Denver resident considering purchasing an e-bike, the e-bike rebate program is an excellent opportunity to save money while doing your part for the environment. Be sure to mark your calendars for the next e-bike rebate voucher release!
