Detectives Investigate String of Highlands Ranch Burglaries Amid Growing Concerns

Authorities are investigating a series of burglaries that targeted three homes in a Highlands Ranch neighborhood on Friday night, raising concerns about a potential pattern. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the break-ins occurred near Broadway and East Gateway Drive, with two homes showing signs of forced entry and one having its power cut. Investigators suspect the burglars may have used a Wi-Fi jammer to disable security cameras, making it harder for homeowners to detect their movements. During one of the burglaries, a resident unexpectedly walked in on three intruders inside their home, further heightening fears within the community.

Detectives are also looking into a similar burglary in Franktown, where a back door was broken, and security cameras appeared to have been disabled before the house was ransacked. While no direct link between the cases has been confirmed, investigators note the methods used in both incidents are strikingly similar. The pattern suggests that the suspects may be specifically targeting homes where they know the owners are away, taking calculated steps to avoid detection.

Law enforcement officials are urging residents to stay alert and take precautions, such as keeping lights on, securing doors and windows, and monitoring home security systems for any disruptions. They also encourage neighbors to watch for unfamiliar vehicles or individuals lingering in the area, especially those checking door handles or acting suspiciously.

The sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible and encourages anyone with information to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-917-STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Residents are also advised to report any suspicious activity to the sheriff’s office non-emergency line at 303-660-7500 or call 911 if an immediate threat is observed.
