Holiday Warning: Aurora Police to Automatically Impound These Vehicles—Are You at Risk?

Aurora Police to Begin Automatic Impounding of Certain Vehicles

The Aurora Police Department (APD) has announced a new traffic enforcement initiative aimed at curbing dangerous driving and ensuring compliance with vehicle regulations. Starting the week of Monday, Nov. 25, APD will begin automatically impounding vehicles that meet specific criteria as part of an ongoing effort to promote road safety.

According to the department, drivers found speeding, driving aggressively, or operating a vehicle with registration violations will be cited. However, vehicles will face immediate impoundment if the driver is found to be without a valid driver’s license, lacks insurance, or has unresolved registration violations.

This operation is intended to be long-term and reflects APD’s commitment to tackling traffic-related issues, especially as deadly incidents tend to increase during the holiday season. “This is not a short-term operation,” APD emphasized, urging drivers to exercise caution and respect on the roads.

The initiative follows similar efforts by the Denver Police Department, which has conducted several targeted operations focusing on registration violations. Denver PD is currently in the midst of a month-long enforcement operation that began on Nov. 2.

With traffic risks heightened during the holidays, APD’s new measures aim to reduce accidents and encourage drivers to comply with road safety regulations. Motorists are advised to ensure their paperwork is in order and to drive responsibly to avoid citations or impoundment.
