Denver’s Ritz-Carlton Is Basically a Fancy Playground (And Yes, Locals Can Go Too)

The Ritz-Carlton, Denver has been a standout in the city skyline for decades — and it’s still one of the most iconic luxury addresses downtown. Originally built in 1983 and transformed into The Ritz-Carlton in 2008, the hotel quickly set a new standard for high-end hospitality in Colorado, becoming Denver’s first property to earn a coveted Five-Diamond rating.

What makes it special isn’t just the name on the front door — it’s the experience inside. The hotel is known for having some of the largest guest rooms in the city, along with elegant ballrooms that have hosted everything from black-tie galas to major corporate events. And even if you’re not staying the night, there’s plenty to do: ELWAY’S Downtown, owned by Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, remains one of Denver’s most talked-about steakhouses, while The Ritz-Carlton Spa offers a quiet escape with luxe amenities like steam rooms and whirlpools.

Recently, the hotel’s grand event spaces have also taken on a new life as a venue for Candlelight concerts — intimate performances held under the glow of thousands of flickering candles. From classical composers like Beethoven and Mozart to modern tributes featuring music from Coldplay and ABBA, the concerts give locals a new way to experience the building’s atmosphere without ever booking a room.

Located in the heart of downtown near Larimer Square, The Ritz-Carlton is easy to reach whether you’re driving in, taking public transit, or coming from Denver International Airport. It’s walkable to some of the city’s best dining and nightlife, and it remains one of Denver’s most polished destinations for visitors and locals alike.
