From Sword Fights to a Boat Regatta, Northglenn’s Pirate Fest Promises Adventure

Avast, ye mateys — Northglenn is going full pirate this weekend! The city will host its annual Pirate Fest at EB Rains Jr. Memorial Park on Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20.

Friday night’s adults-only “Pirate Night” runs from 6–10 p.m. with food trucks, beer, rum, mead, live music, sword fighting, and the crowning of a Pirate King. Saturday’s all-ages “Pirate Fest” kicks off at noon with bounce houses, crafts, pirate demos, character meet-and-greets, and plenty of treasures until 6 p.m., then shifts back to adult fun until 10 p.m.

One of the festival highlights is the cardboard boat regatta on Saturday at 2 p.m., where daring crews test their handmade vessels on the lake. Awards will be given for fastest boat, best design, and most heroic effort. Registration is $20 per boat, and entries must check in by 1:30 p.m.

The park, located at 11701 Community Center Drive, will offer multiple parking options at City Hall, the Recreation Center, Metro North Building, and Ramada Plaza. Bike stations and accessible parking will also be available.

⚓ Northglenn’s Pirate Fest promises a weekend packed with swashbuckling fun for all ages — whether you’re raising a mug of rum or cheering on a brave cardboard crew.
