Thursday morning, Police were responding to a call at an apartment complex in the vicinity of East Illiff and Quebec. Upon arrival, they found a reported stolen car. Arapahoe County Sherriff’s Deputies approached the car, and found someone inside, so they called for backup.
The suspect did not get out of the car when asked, and eventually put the car in gear and drove it towards the officers. One shot was fired, and the suspect was pronounced dead a short time later. A weapon was recovered from his body, but no word on whether it was actually pulled out during the altercation . All deputies that are involved are on standard administrative leave until this gets sorted out.
