Denver residents are expressing frustration over dirt bikes and ATVs disrupting traffic and ignoring safety laws on city streets. Nancy, a local resident, recorded a group of about 30 motorized bikes, dirt bikes, and ATVs disregarding traffic signals at the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and York Street. The riders, performing wheelies and stopping traffic, included both adults and younger people, all with their vehicle plates removed, making it difficult to identify them.

Nancy called 911, but the group had dispersed before she could report the incident. A police vehicle was seen in the area, but the officer did not intervene. Authorities later explained that the officer may have been responding to a higher priority call.

Denver Police acknowledged the incident, calling it dangerous and illegal. They encourage residents to report such behavior, although they recognize the challenges in enforcement due to riders removing identification from their vehicles and wearing helmets or hoods. The penalty for violating these traffic laws carries a fine of $59, and police continue to stress the need for responsible driving of ATVs and off-road motorcycles on legal roadways.
