In a disturbing incident, Aurora police are searching for two individuals suspected of committing a brutal hate crime against a community member. The attack, which targeted the victim’s sexual orientation, is being investigated as a “bias-motivated” crime by the Aurora Police Department (APD).

According to APD, the assault occurred on February 7th, near noon, close to 16800 E. Mississippi Avenue. The victim was reportedly standing in a parking lot when two men approached and attacked him. The assault involved punches to the face and kicks to the head while the victim was defenseless on the ground.

The victim reported feeling specifically targeted due to their sexual orientation, making this a particularly heinous crime.

APD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects. The first suspect is described as a Black male, aged 26-30, approximately 6’1″ tall and 215 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue sweatpants. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic or mixed-race male, aged 23-25, around 5’10” tall and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

The suspects are believed to have been driving a mid-2000s black Nissan Altima with an unidentified license plate.

Anyone with information regarding this attack is urged to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. You can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.

This act of violence against a member of our community is deeply concerning. We urge anyone with information to come forward and help bring the perpetrators to justice. Together, we can create a safer and more inclusive community for all.
